Blogoween 2018 | Dream Halloween Party

As part of my final posts for Blogoween, I decided to put my creative thinking hat on and try something different. Today I will be discussing the characters I would invite to a Halloween party. While. I do not normally attend or throw a Halloween party, so I thought this would be a fun “what if” type post so I could plan my perfect party.

This post is in partnership with Penguin Young Teen, who graciously sent me a copy of The Sacrifice Box by Martin Stewart for the Wicked Reads Campaign. I actually screamed and jumped up like a kid when I opened the package! This book is perfect for the Halloween season and reminds me of Stephen Kind’s ITThe Chalk Man, and Stranger Things. I do not want to give away too much about the plot because the less you know, the more you will enjoy the book. The book takes place in the 1980s and follows a group of friends who find a mysterious box hidden in the forest. They each put something in the box and then make a pact to never come back alone or at night and never take back their item. The friends decide to make a pact together promising to never visit the box alone or at night and to never take back their item. Four years later, someone has broken the pact, and terrifying things begin to happen.

Blogoween 2018 | My Favorite Spooky Movies and TV Shows

Hello, readers! I mostly focus on books and reading here on my blog, but I can’t let October pass without talking about my favorite spooky movies and TV shows! I am going to try to keep it to thirteen because ’tis the season for unlucky 13.

Thriller Thursday | The Anomaly by Michael Rutger

Happy Thriller Thursday, fellow readers! Today I will be reviewing what is probably the best book I read this month. This book has been on my radar since I saw it in the Book of the Month selections. I almost added it to my first box, but I’m cheap and knew I had a ton of books on my shelf. However, I had two Audible credit I needed to use by the beginning of the month, so I decided to use one of the credits for this book. I am so happy I chose to go with the audiobook for this one!

Blogoween 2018 | Halloween (2018) Review

Today’s Blogoween post is a little later than usual. I went to see the new Halloween movie this afternoon, so I will be giving you my review today. I am a huge fan of John Carpenter’s original 1978 movie and the (relevant) sequels. Yes, I even watch Halloween III: Season of the Witch every year. But I do not watch Rob Zombie’s attempts at the franchise.

Thriller Thursday | The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay

October has been a better reading month for me. The second book I finished this month was one of my most anticipated books this year. The Cabin at the End of the World was my first Paul Tremblay book, and I had heard from several people how scary the book was. I did a book swap for it on Instagram.

**Disclaimer: As with all of my reviews, I do post the entire plot synopsis before my review. However, I will always recommend for Thriller Thursday reviews that you skip the plot synopsis. Thrillers are better when you go in knowing little to nothing about the plot. Happy reading!

Blogoween 2018 | Spookathon TBR

There are three readathons happening next week, and I am attempting to take part in all of them! I have been waiting for Spookathon since I joined the bookish community this year. Spookathon is a week long readathon for reading all the thrillers and spooky books. It takes place October 15-21 this year. Then I discovered that Dewey’s 24 Hour readathon is happening on October 20 and the 8 in Boo Mini Readathon is happening October 19-20. Since I can’t decide, I will be attempting to participate in all three readathons and committing to reading as much as possible next week!

Thriller Thursday | People Like Us by Dana Mele

The first book I finished in October was People Like Us. This is a YA thriller that has been on my TBR since it came out in Febraury. It was a fun read with little payoff for me, but I still enjoyed it! I definitely recommend it for your Halloween or fall TBR if you like suspense that is not too scary!

**Disclaimer: As with all of my reviews, I do post the entire plot synopsis before my review. However, I will always recommend for Thriller Thursday reviews that you skip the plot synopsis. Thrillers are better when you go in knowing little to nothing about the plot. Happy reading!
