Hello, fellow readers! I hope you all are well and finding ways to keep yourself occupied during the COVID-19 quarantine. I am on week two and finding it difficult to be motivated each day. I am falling into somewhat of a routine of waking up, having my coffee, then doing a workout (at home!). After that, I take a shower and eat lunch. The afternoons are when I start to go stir crazy. Ironically, I feel the most motivated at night after about 8:00. I guess I start to feel remorse or guilt for not doing anything productive.
Anyway, I am not feeling creative as far as content right now, so I thought I would start participating in WWW Wednesdays.
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo
I have finally pushed through the first 150ish pages and I am starting to enjoy the book more. I was trying to listen to the audiobook for this one, and while it did help me get started and push through the first two chapters, I find that I have to pay too close attention to the audio to multitask. So I will stick with physically reading this one.
The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren
This was exactly what I needed to pull me out of my anxiety-induced reading slump.
Night Film by Marisha Pessl
I probably won’t write a full review for this on my blog because it would be so negative, but my general thoughts are this book was about 200 pages too long and did not have a good payoff. It is a slow burn procedural type book and not the horror thriller book I was expecting (although there are some chilling moments here and there).
I’m sure I have an ARC or two that need to be read, so I may pick one of those up next. I definitely think I need something lighter after Night Film and Ninth House. I will probably pick up something contemporary or a fast-paced thriller!
