Hello, fellow readers! It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but it is also the busiest time of the year! We all get so busy, too busy in fact, from November 1 to January 2 every year. While I do enjoy the holiday season, I also somewhat dread the never-ending list of social obligations that comes with it.
I am very much the type of person who wants their time to be “their time.” When I am not working, I want to be free to do exactly what I want. I don’t think anyone disagrees with that, but my point is, I do not have the type of personality that enjoys constant social obligations.
With that said, I know I have to set goals for myself the next two months, or else I will start to feel like my life is spinning out of control! Today I am sharing some of my personal goals for November.
1. Read five books
Since I am primarily a bookish blogger, let’s start with my reading goal! I am hoping to read five books in November. I will have a full week off for Thanksgiving break at the end of the month. This will be the first Thanksgiving break in three years that I have been home for. We usually go to Gatlinburg, TN for four or five days during Thanksgiving. Since I will be home, I plan to get alot of reading done!
2. Catch up on ARCs and BOTMs
I have six unread ARCs and eleven unread BOTM books that I desperately want to catch up on. I know I can’t read all of these title by the end of 2019, but I know I will be reading The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides (ARC) in November for my book club.
3. Finish Christmas shopping
Since we are not taking our Thanksgiving trip this year, I set a goal to have all of my Christmas shopping completed by the end of November. I haven’t started yet, nor do I have many gift ideas, but I think I am up to the challenge!
4. Workout Consistently
I actually workout every week and have since 2014. However, the last couple of months, I have talked myself out of going to the gym after work or I come home with the intentions of doing a workout and end up wasting an hour on my phone. Next week will be difficult, but I need to start working out four days a week again instead of the one or two times I’ve been going each week.
5. Be More Active on Bookstagram
I have really fallen off the wagon, so to speak, with bookstagram. Instagram’s algorithm changed again back in the summer I believe, and my engagement was suddenly cut in half. It is really hard to motivate myself to create content when I feel like no one cares. This also applies to my blog. I know consistency is the key to engagement on social media, but I struggle to find a balance between being active on social media and just wasting time on social media. I also waste time and then feel guilty because I could have been reading, which would provide me with content, but instead I mindless scroll my feed. I need to be more disciplined about hopping on bookstagram for 10-15 minutes to be active and the put the phone down and pick up a book.
What are some of your goals for November? I would love to hear about them!
