Tag Tuesday | Mid-Year Book Freakout

Hello, fellow readers! I did this tag last year right after I started my blog, so I thought I would do it again this year. It doesn’t feel like we have made it halfway through 2019, yet here we are! So far, I have read 23 books, which is just under halfway to my goal of 50 books. I still think I can catch up and finish 50 books by the end of the year!

Here are all of the books I have read so far this year.

Best book you’ve read so far in 2019?

I’m going to cheat on this question because I have a favorite from multiple genres!
Best FantasyThe Wicked King by Holly Black
Best ContemporaryThe Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Best Mystery/ThrillerLock Every Door by Riley Sager

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019?

The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson

New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid and The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman

Most anticipated release for the second half of 2019?

I have three: Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo; The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware; and Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

Biggest disappointment?

Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes

Biggest surprise?

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren

Favorite new author?

I already loved his books, but Riley Sager solidified his status as a favorite author with Lock Every Door.

Newest fictional crush?

I still do not have one.

Newest favorite character?

Victor Vale from Vicious.

Book that made you cry?

I haven’t full on cried, but I was getting a lump in my throat at the end of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

Book that made you happy?

I was laughing so hard while listening to Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating.

Favorite book to movie adaptation you saw this year?

I haven’t read the books for any of the adaptations I’ve watched this year.

Favorite review you’ve written this year?

I’m not sure! I still don’t have confidence in my reviews and feel I could do a better job with them, so this is a hard question.

Most beautiful book you bought so far this year?

I didn’t buy it, but I was sent a copy of The Killer In Me by Olivia Kiernan and I love the cover so much!

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

I want to finish the Shades of Magic trilogy, Six of Crows duology (I need to finish the Grisha trilogy first), and catch up on the Arc of a Scythe series. I also want to read Night Film by Marisha Pessl; Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylorand The 7 1/2 Deaths of Everlyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. All of these are “big books” (400+ pages), which is why I keep putting them off.
