Review | The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Hello, fellow readers! I usually do not fall for the “bookstagram hype,” but I kept seeing The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo EVERYWHERE last year. It was being raved about in the bookish community, and when I found the audiobook on scribd, I decided to give it a try, not really knowing what to expect.

Description: This is a book that I feel you are better off not knowing much about. I never read the full description of the story, and I think it was better to me that way. Evelyn Hugo is a former Hollywood star who has finally decided to tell her full story to the world, and considering she has had seven husbands, it is quite the story to tell.

What I Liked: The writing for this book is phenomenal. Half the time I thought Evelyn Hugo was a real person being interviewed and I was listening to her tell the story! I highly recommend the audiobook for this story because there is a separate narrator for the portions of the book where Evelyn is telling her story.  The story reveals pretty early on who Evelyn considers her one true love, but that does not take away from the story at all. Jenkins Reid has a way of making you feel attached and 110% invested in her characters.

What I Didn’t Like: Honestly there wasn’t much I didn’t like. I would have listened to Evelyn’s story for 50 hours on audio if that’s what it had taken!

Final Thoughts: Obviously I loved this book and gave it 5 stars. I know it will be on my top list of books for 2019! This is one example of buying in to the hype for a book!
