Tag Tuesday | Game of Thrones Book Tag

My husband and I started re-watching Game of Thrones this past weekend to prepare for the final season in April. I was searching for my Tag Tuesday post and came across a GoT themed tag and knew I had to do it!

1. Arya – A character that’s all about revenge

I’m going with Carrie from Stephen King’s classic horror novel, Carrie. This is the only King novel I’ve read and enjoyed, but I am looking to change that this year.

2. Varys – A book featuring political intrigue

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. The politics in this book were so intriguing! All the twists and turn in the last few chapters of the book were overwhelming.

3. Joffrey – A villain you just love to hate

Bellatrix LeStrange from the Harry Potter series. I think Helena Bonham Carter’s portrayal of Bellatrix is part of my “love to hate” relationship with the character though.

4. Jon Snow – A coming of age story

I don’t read many books like this, but I did enjoy The Chalk Man by CJ Tudor. The protagonist in this story, Eddie, receives a drawing of a chalk man in the mail, similar to the figures he and his friends drew when they were children. He thinks it is a prank at first, then someone dies. The book is told in both past and present as you piece together what happened to Eddie and his friends when they were children.

5. Jaime & Cersei – A ship you just can’t get behind

My answer to this is somewhat spoiler-y, but it is so obvious at the beginning of the book what is going to happen. I am not on board with Citra and Rowan from Scythe by Neal Shusterman falling for each other. I am hoping they remain friends, but I feel like there will be an obligatory romance as the series continues because it is a YA book.

6. Lady Olenna – A kick-ass older character

Probably not the answer this prompt is looking for, but I think Evelyn Hugo was so brave to tell her story in The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

7. Dany – A book featuring dragons

The only book with dragons I have read would be the Harry Potter books. I guess I need to branch out a little bit.

8. Sansa – A character you grew to love

Scythe Faraday from Scythe! I did not like him much at the beginning of the book, but I grew to love him as the story continued.

9. Melisandre – A favorite magic system

I want to choose Scythe for this, but I don’t really think there is a magic system. So I am going to go with A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I loved the concept of multiple Londons and a character who can visit all of them.

10. Tyrion – A character whose weapon is their mind

I’m thinking that almost everybody picks Hermione Granger for this answer, but I can’t think of a better character for this question!
