As part of my final posts for Blogoween, I decided to put my creative thinking hat on and try something different. Today I will be discussing the characters I would invite to a Halloween party. While. I do not normally attend or throw a Halloween party, so I thought this would be a fun “what if” type post so I could plan my perfect party.
This post is in partnership with Penguin Young Teen, who graciously sent me a copy of The Sacrifice Box by Martin Stewart for the Wicked Reads Campaign. I actually screamed and jumped up like a kid when I opened the package! This book is perfect for the Halloween season and reminds me of Stephen Kind’s IT, The Chalk Man, and Stranger Things. I do not want to give away too much about the plot because the less you know, the more you will enjoy the book. The book takes place in the 1980s and follows a group of friends who find a mysterious box hidden in the forest. They each put something in the box and then make a pact to never come back alone or at night and never take back their item. The friends decide to make a pact together promising to never visit the box alone or at night and to never take back their item. Four years later, someone has broken the pact, and terrifying things begin to happen.
So let’s get right to talking about characters I would invite to my dream Halloween party!
1. Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby
I have been obsessed with this book since high school. Nobody throws a party better than Jay Gatsby (and I’m partial to Leo’s interpretation of Jay!). Jay Gatsby would be the perfect co-host for a Halloween party.
2 & 3. Fred and George Weasley from the Harry Potter series
You have to have some tricks to go with your treats, and I think the Weasley twins would provide the party with some creative pranks that would keep the other guests on their toes!
4, 5, & 6. The Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus
Okay, hear me out on this one. I would invite Winifred and her witchy sisters purely for the entertainment. Sure, it is a huge risk because they might be singing a spell, but you can’t deny they can put on a great show!
7. Lara Jean Song from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy
I would invite Lara Jean because we know she can bake some delicious goodies to put on the refreshments table! I think she would also have the most creative costume at the party.
8 & 9. Arckle from The Sacrifice Box and Dustin from Stranger Things
Arckle is the somewhat foul-mouthed comedian of the group in The Sacrifice Box and I think he and Dustin would keep us all laughing at the party!
10, 11, & 12. Harry, Ron, and Hermione from the Harry Potter series
This one should be obvious. If a troll shows up at the Halloween party, I want these wizards around to take care of him.
